A Year On

A year on and i have been awake for far too long,

When the birds arrive on the oak Branches to tweet,

At 4:35 am when the sun begins to leak its warm rays,

They sing their deathly song,

And whispered to me that you had flown away,

And now a year has gone,

A year on and it all seems wrong,

For you to leave and our hearts to miss your laughter,

Drifting by in the ever after with a soul full of fun,

A new life begun without you near,

But we will remember you with fondness,

For the year that has gone,

I love you dad, you finally belong tucked safely in my heart,

For all the years to come,
