The burning sun raged upon the strangers face, reminding him how he was alive, alive and well considering the events that caused him to ramble on. His eyes covered by the safe shadows from his dusty hat.
A slight breeze passed him but it may as well have been fire as he didnt feel a god damn thing. Not one thing cut through the burning upon his weathered face.
“What a fucking day.” He said aloud and laughed in spite of himself. “What to do today?”
He adjusted his hat in slow irritation from the gus crease and quickly put both hands to his guns. Two LeMat revolvers nestled nicely into their holders. 9 shots loaded in each gun waiting for action.
His eyes narrowed as he looked towards the horizon, hot air steaming beyond the road. This used to be a bustling highway filled with life. Before the shit hit the fan he mused. He tutted.
He knew what lay beyond that horizon, those creatures that destroyed everything in his world. For this was his world and he was so god damn angry at them.
Flashes of battles rambled through his mind, bursts of light from guns and explosions ringing in his ears. He grimaced as he was brought back to reality. One step further brought him to his enemies. He smiled bitterly and muttered soon, soon they will be gone. This one man was here to take your fucking lives like you did to me.
His concentration broke as he saw a figure in the distance, a slow moving silhouette breaking through the rising heat. A horse he figured, not only a horse but a man on top.
He squeezed his gun holders and walked slowly forward. It was on. His black shirt stood out in this desert, he left his belonging back on the floor of the desert so he wouldnt be lumbered when he met this figure. He walked 20 paces and stood as the figure started gaining quicker ground, it was a fast gallop now.
The stranger analysed the figure, maybe 5 or 10 minutes they would meet. His hands at the guns for relative easy access. Better have brought food or drink he thought. Might have to eat the god damn horse he chuckled.
His eyes burned with fire now, angry and menacing, ready for action. The horse rider swiftly approaching. He could see now a wide brimmed hat the colour of night. Head low, a gray shirt, grey trousers with thin red lines.
His eyes narrowed even more, he knew what the stripes meant. He was ready for him.
This was a soldier from the Confederation, he hated him for the stripes. This man on the horse carried a rifle straddled to his back with a bayonette that reflected the light of the sun. Polished recently he thought.
The horse was approaching even faster until it was 10 paces away. The horse ground to a halt with a snort and a loud noise. The man looked at the stranger with contempt and sat straight in the saddle, his wrists overlapped each other on the peak of the saddle.
“Hello friend” he broke the silence that surrounded the two. A silence that made them feel like they were the only two people in the world. The stranger nodded, said nothing and gripped his holsters tighter.
“Not much of a talker huh?” The man smiled bit his eyes did not let go of the suspicion. “Well, I’m wonderin’ to myself what a stranger be doing out in these parts? With nothing but two guns and some supplies over yonder” he chuckled.
Finally the stranger spoke. “I dont seem to recall it being a crime to go a wanderin’ by my own” he smiled through gritted teeth.
The stranger whipped out his two pistols and shot the rider in the head four times. The rider slumped in shock and slowly tumbled off the horse, his body hit the floor with a dull heavy thud. Eyes still on his killer.
The stranger looked up and at the horizon 11 figures advancing in the distance. He grinned as he reloaded his pistols. He backed slowly towards his belongings, looking in his bag he pulled out a device
Theyre all gonna die today.
